GRP4 Fabrications designed and manufactured these crossmembers to allow the engine to be mounted onto the chassis rails of the car, enabling the engine to be mounted as low and as far rearward as possible, while also allowing easy removal of the crossmember and steering rack if required.

Key advantages to chassis mounting the engine:

• Easier Servicing & Maintenance: You can drop the crossmember, steering rack, or front anti-roll bar for trackside repairs or suspension tuning without needing an engine crane or support beam.

• Superior Weight Distribution: Because you aren't restricted by the crossmember's built-in mounting lugs, you can push engine swaps (like a Duratec, YB Cosworth, or K20) further back towards the firewall (front-mid engine setup) to improve front-to-rear weight balance.

• Reduced Stress on Front Suspension: Disconnecting engine weight and drivetrain torque from the suspension mounting structure reduces frame flex under heavy cornering loads.

• Clearance: Frees up tight clearance around exhaust headers, steering shafts, and dry-sump oil pans.

This internally braced and multi-piece newly designed crossmember offers the ultimate in strength, durability, and zero-bump-steer handling.
