Atlas Side Bearing Shim Set *P

Selection of side bearing shims to suit the Atlas axle crown wheel.

Used to precisely adjust the backlash and side bearing preload.

1. Backlash Adjustment
   By shifting shims from the left side of the differential carrier to the right (or vice versa), you move the crown wheel (ring gear) closer to or farther away from the pinion gear to achieve the specified mesh tolerance.

2. Side Bearing Preload
   Adding or removing total shim thickness across both sides adjusts the lateral clamping force (preload) on the differential carrier tapered roller bearings. Correct preload prevents axial movement under high torque while avoiding premature bearing wear.

Supplied as a kit with the below shims:

2x 0.1 mm

2x 0.15 mm

2x 0.2 mm

2x 0.5 mm
